Good morning George and Nira!  and all who follow!
Okay George, I do know it isn't morning there anymore.  Sorry about your apple tree!  Nira, glad that coffee wasn't hot!  The farmer's market will be there again next week.  smiley: wink

So far it is a pretty day here in NH (Tonya, I remembered).  Rain is supposed to come in later in the day and looks like a rainy week.... April showers?

I have been pensive this morning.  Thinking about seed starting.  And thinking about work and knowing what it will be like until at least July and decided perhaps I should put some gardening dreams...that helped get me through the winter... on the back burner until next year.  Not start tomato plants?  smiley: eek

I have a source for buying heirloom tomato plants ...they won't have Mrs G which is the one my family traditionally carries forward.  Have I ever mentioned my Mom calls me "Patti tomato seed"... think Johnny Appleseed.  So this week a co-worker made a point to tell me he had started tomato seeds and wanted me to know the Mrs G had an excellent germination rate...every single one came up...he was going to have so many tomato plants, he wouldn't know what to do with them all.  I didn't give him Mrs G seeds this year.  It was about 3 years ago.  And something happened, was he the one who left them out to harden off and forgot about them and frost killed them? or the one who had his children over water and drown them?  Doesn't matter.  I gave both replacement plants... can you do a plant?  Apparently he could, and saved the seeds, and has for years now.  I shared seeds with him this year...can't remember which... squash, cherry toms, cukes, carrots?  He asked if he could pay me for them.  I assured him that was not necessary...how on earth would I figure out what portion of bulk buying seeds for the food bank and skimming some off the top did he owe?  He asked if there was a store I liked to shop at, he could buy me a gift card in thanks for all the seeds over the years?  Not necessary.  I was raised, give and you will receive....  I am thinking Anthony would be happy to give me some tomato plants!  Win win situation.  If not, I am sure Mom has some.
Seeds are viable for years.  I will keep them in the fridge.  I can't do it all.  I chose the columbine project as a keeper.  Will keep you posted how that turns out.

I remembered a man's last name today.  It is neither here nor there.  Just bugged me I couldn't remember.  I had his first name ....Charlie.  He came to mind when a co-worker joined my pampered chef order to get a grill basket and combine shipping charge.  He promptly handed me cash for it.  I went to give him change...he said no, he needed to pay part of the shipping charge.  Perhaps he hadn't paid enough.... did I have anyone else going in on it....hey, we could get lots more people to go in on it and then I wouldn't have to pay any shipping charge at all for organizing it!  What do you think?  I think I do not want to be sorting all this stuff out and lugging it into work for a bizzillion people and the more people involved the greater the risk something won't be okay with the order and I shall have to fight that war for someone else..... I was fine with paying the shipping charge.  He just laughed.  Okay we won't pursue that.  Things are heating up at work....he is good... one of the people who will get us through.  And if my sense of humor cracks him up....all to the good.  I got my sense of humor from my Dad... it isn't just humor...it is sense of Silly and knowing when it is appropriate.  Not everyone has that and I am grateful.

My work situation is such that I am evaluating my team players and figuring out which are people I would want to make POW camp escape attempt with and which you wouldn't want to know anything about it and leave behind.  LOL.

Oh and circling back around... Charlie Crowley gave me rides to and from New England when I was in college.  I gathered he was always amazed I was waiting by the door when he came to get me to take me home and remember the first time..... I went running out and asked if there was space for my luggage?   I had forgotten to ask about that.  He said he was sure we could squeeze it in.  He popped open the trunk and I put my bag in.  He asked if he could help me carry the rest of my luggage.  That was my luggage!  One small bag?  I am only going for a weekend!  He laughed.  He appreciated that my Dad was always already there when we arrived at the Sturbridge rest stop.  Charlie was not the kind of guy who would just leave you there if your next ride wasn't there even if you said you were sure it would be okay.  He appreciated on the flip side, we were always there waiting for him to pick me up again with time to spare.  I have rambled a bit...sorry... my point was... everytime I asked Charlie if I could give him some money towards gas....he said no... he was going anyway... why should I do that?  forget about it!  Charlie graduated from college before I did. My senior year I got rides from someone who lived in my home town.  You didn't have to ask if you could help pay for gas, he laid it out up front.... you want a ride, you pay for the gas.  He crammed as many people as he could into his car and we all paid full boat for the gas.  He was making money on it.  I didn't mind as it was slightly cheaper than taking a bus... and took less than 12 hours!  But it does say something about people.  I need to understand the people I am working with to get through this.

Thank you for listening to my rants!  Hope everyone has an excellent day!
