Senebody forgot to turn off the airconditioning for today!  Again!  It was lovely out, but just a little too chilly to be working pulling stuff out when the ground was so cold and so I did a little bit of housecleaning instead and then decided to get the lawnmower out and attack  the back, but nope!  The lawnmower had a little bitty problem.  Seems like Ron was right when he was complaining about how it was cutting after the guy came out and serviced it and I wasn't really paying attention to what he was talking about, but found out that it really did have a problem as the blade thingy was scrapping along the ground and would not raise up for love nor money.  I could see what the problem was, but darned if I could fix it myself as there was a piece hanging down from the undercarraige and I was too addlepated to figure out how to pull the deck up and reattach it, so I called in the big guns and they came down from Chesapeake and fixed it.  I was really surprised at the fast service!!  I guess it paid off for once to be "helpless"!  Ha!  It's ready to go for tomorrow!  Pat from across the street came over and got the ditch on both sides of the drive, so I don't have to worry about being a turtle.  I'm always afraid, or super careful, when I am mowing along the slope down there about getting overbalanced!  Ron did that once and half the neighborhood came to get him set back upright!

Mice are sneaky little beggars.   I think they look for homes where the cats are well fed and pampered and can thieve with impunity!

Kathy!  You are getting your hubby back!  Woohoooooo!

George, I went on a back to nature kick eons ago and spent a couple of summers with a friend being hunters and gatherers and foraging in the ditches and woods and even though we scouted and located patches and patches of the venerable artichoke they were just stingy in the tuber department and it ended up being more trouble than they were worth.  I had thought about growing some, but truthfully I just couldn't get all that jazzed about them.  Do they give you a good alternative for diabetes? They show up once in a while at the Farmer's Market.
