I've never used quince, although there are some people who grow it here and offer it occasionally thru the Farmer's Market.  I've always thought it was an interesting fruit, but I've always thought of it as a bit more old timey.  I'm really intrigued by your picture George!  Does diabetes run in your family?  It does in ours.  I really dislike those glucose intolerance tests.  So far so good!  Nira, I think I'm more acquainted with the ornamental quince, too!  Grafting rings a bell.  It may have been one of the root stocks that was used in one of the grafting classes.  The other root stock was hawthorne.  Dang.  I'll have to find my notes!!

For those of you who were out wrangling lawn mowers and shortening the grass, you were in good company!  I bounced out of the house at about 10:30 and other than taking a break for lunch and a couple of potty trips I spent most of the daylight hours either:

1.  Standing and looking at all the work that needed to be done.
2.  Standing and looking at all the pretty flowers.
3.  Standing and looking at all the work that needed to be done.
4.  Pulling a few weedy weeds.
5.  Standing and looking at all the work that needed to be done.
6.  Getting reacquainted with all those dormant muscles that were screaming abuse abuse abuse and ignoring them.
7.  Standing and admiring all the work that was getting done.
8.  Dividing peonies (Patti, I did not forget that needed to be done!)
9.  Standing and admiring all the work that was getting closer to being done.
10.  Pruning errant branches and  water sprouts from shrubs and trees.
11.  Standing pooped and thinking I am too tired to look at anything else that even came close to being attended to!
12.  Cleaned the weeds from the bricks and pavers out front and pruned all the fruit from the fatsias and threw that mess to the mockingbirds and blackbirds.
13.  SAT on the front steps and thought about putting shovels and pruners away for about 20 minutes.
14.  Put all the tools, mower, wagon and assorted odds and ends away.
15.  Stood and swayed cause every muscle and ligament and tendon in my body HURT and ached.
16.  Thought about what I should do next--  just thought it.
17.  Loaded all scraps and trimmings into the back of the pick up and hauled it all to the dump.
18.  Looked at all the progress that was being made!
17.  Crawled up the steps and through the door and through the house and onto the couch.
18.  I am sure that I will dream about gardening and yard work through the night!

  It was a good day!

Ron is extra careful when mowing around the ditch, so careful that he mows away a good ten feet.  I can't blame him for being extra cautious, but so far I've managed to stay upright, although I'm ready to bail out if needed.  It helps too that our neighbor across the road hits it with the weed wacker every once in a while!  I make him cookies!

Patti, are you done drooling yet?  I hate that when that happens!  lol  You are doing great with your sponsoring!  Kewl beans!

Wingers, don't ya just love spring?
