Hi!  Day #1 of my fitness challenge had me doing laps at Walmart inside the store and parking in the north 40 and getting a bit more steps taking a cart back to the cart corral and then back to my car.

It does strike me as most amusing that fitness contradicts efficiency.  Normally, I would park closest to the cart corral to return my cart after shopping.  I would know exactly what I was shopping for and hopefully know how to find it, or ask helpful store personnel, to minimize steps on my mission.  Instead I did laps in the store and ended up buying stuff I didn't go for....although I don't regret any of my purchases.  If you are going to the basement to exercise, carry the laundry down as you go.  As you come back up, think about what you might need from the basement later and save yourself extra steps.

I have fine tuned my spreadsheet tracking all this, so it subtracts the steps earned while running if I forget to take the pedometer off for that as I prefer to take the Wii Fit estimate of how far I ran.  I get 200 steps for walking from my car to my desk at work and only 700 steps for running in place for 10 minutes... with the program urging me to swing my arms to get more caloric burn, so I do that, does that make sense?  I think not!
With my spreadsheet fine tuned.... I have scored my miles for today!  banana dance  I still owe 40 minutes of soccer head butting, penguin rocking, skiing, obstacle course, upper arm toning bird game, etc, etc.  I can do that.  I am just happy I don't have to run anymore!   I won't get as many pedometer steps as I deserve for that, but it is all gravy at this point.... I would imagine I should get some and then it can just be saved up for another day this month if I work late or spend most of my day sitting at my desk or just don't feel like exercising!  smiley: wink
