Good evening,
Nira, we got into upper 80s today. I am with you, that is way too hot for this time of year! We are dry also. I am happy for that if they can get the garden plots tilled before more heavy rain comes. It looks like we might get a light rain tomorrow. A friend at work went out and dug down a foot and put some soil in his hand. He scrunched it up in his hand and when he relaxed his grip, it all crumbled. Perfect! The garden coordinator says he spoke to the facilities director and he instructed the landscapers to till this week. With all those people in the loop, who knows if it will happen. I have my fingers crossed.
I noticed my early azalea is just starting to bloom. And it had one huge bumble bee buzzing about it! It is so nice to see lots of bee activity. I almost finished up transplanting out tomato plants. Just a few more to go. Oh, and I had a few come up that I wasn't expecting. They ended up in cups that I cleared of tomato seedlings and was going to use for transplanting pepper plants. The plant markers were long gone. I hate wasting seedlings, but didn't want unknown tomato seedlings so they uh, got plucked out and disposed of.
A young man I gave seedlings to last week, thanked me again today and said he was too busy over the weekend but would get them planted this week. NOOO! No? Not yet. Oh, he said, good thing that I told him. I keep forgetting I have to tell people stuff that I think everyone knows. This week I will be giving away the extra hot peppers. I don't think we have enough sweet pepper plants to have any extra, spares yes, extra no. People seem enthused about the hot pepper plants.
I decided to take a vacation day tomorrow to get stuff done at home. I hope everyone got their week off to a good start.
