I can't wait to share them with you as soon as I figure out what grows well here. Last year I moved from Zone 2, Oregon to Zone 7, Arkansas. It is quite the difference here weatherwise. The place we moved to sits on about 1/2 acre and is surrounded with lots of hills and trees. There are a few houses, but it's very quiet. I love it!
However, it is very humid in the summer and hot!!! Whew.....I don't do heat too well. lol
Last year when we moved in, we had alot of cleaning up of the property to do....IE...clearing out diseased trees and planting new ones...last year we planted drarf apple, pear and peach trees along the ditch back....it is always moist there as there are natural springs all around us. This year we are planting a japanese maple in the back yard for shade for our pup and a cherry tree and dogwood and a few low growing bushes.
We also built up a garden box for the veggies. Since it's so damp here in the spring, we didn't want our veggies to need a life preserver. We also built a nice raised garden with a lattace top over it for sun protection......it's 8' by 4'. I actually get to plant some herbs in it this year. Yay......
I am planning on eventually building three more and a nice arbor , but these things take a bit of time and moolah.
Hmmm....well, as I said, more will be coming.
Great to be here.
