From Chris:
Last week I went to a horse stable here in Tucson and picked up several buckets of composted horse manure for my veggie garden and flower beds. The man told
me that it was very well composted and had been sitting out in the sun and rain for about 2 years.
I read in one of my organic gardening books just yesterday that this sort of compost most likely does not have many nutrients--that they've leeched out.
We don't get a whole lot of rain in Tucson and are actually coming out of a 10 year long drought. Is it possible that this horse manure still has some
nutrients left?
If not, it should still serve to improve the texture of my soil, right?
